FAQ

Frequenty Asked Questions

Where do I submit my tracks?

Please use our 'Submit files & Contact' form in the top menu and follow instructions there.

Can you give technical mix feedback?

In short- yes!

Assuming we've received your files, we'll give you technical feedback that can help you get a better master based on any of the following conditions:

| You've requested mix feedback in the 'Submit files and Contact' form

| We think something needs to be checked before we should master

When will I receive my masters?

We'll contact you shortly after receiving your order about estimated delivery times

Delivery estimates

| We generally deliver single tracks within 48-72 hours

| Larger projects (3 tracks or more) can require up to 5 working days

Please allow some wiggle room based on these factors:

| Other existing ongoing orders

| Your order details (files and requests)

| If we've received all your files and instructions

| If you've requested mix feedback

| If your mixes are ready for mastering

Notes:

| Delivery estimates are for business days only (do not include weekends).

| Delivery estimates do not include statuatory Canadian holidays.

| If you absolutely need your master(s) at a certain date, please specify this after your order and we'll do our best to deliver as requested.

What file formats are accepted before mastering?

We recommend all lossless file formats up to 32-bit float / 384 kHz.

Please export your files at their native resolution (whatever your DAW session was running at).

Note:

| We understand that some projects are only available in MP3 / AAC lossy format.

| We also accept MP3s at 320 kbps or AAC (.m4a) at 256 kbps. Anything lower will be rejected.

We want you to get superior sounding masters in the end, but any file is better than no file (almost!).

What file formats will I receive after mastering?

You'll receive masters at 24 bits in their native resolution when above 44.1 kHz, and a 24-bit 44.1 kHz version that we recommend for streaming services.

For example, if you submit files at 24-bit 96 kHz, you'll get a 24/96 master back and a 24/44.1 master.

We recommend using the 24/44.1 master for streaming services to avoid any possibile low quality sample rate conversion that may occur on the distributor side (streaming services).

If you submitted an MP3 or AAC or any other lossy file, we'll give you back a 24-bit 44.1 kHz master, nothing higher.

We don't recommend using MP3 or any lossy file formats for mastering but we allow it. Sometimes it's all you've got, we understand that.

How should I prepare my files before mastering?

Guidelines

| Make sure to leave enough space at the top and tail of your mix to allow smooth starts and fades

| Try to avoid using a limiter on your master bus if you're just trying to make things loud

| Try to leave some headroom for mastering by making sure the loudest peak remains below 0 dBFS.

| Export your files at their native resolution (whatever your DAW session was running at).

| Create a single .zip file containing all your unmastered tracks as well as any reference masters or reference tracks, clearly labelled '_REF'.

| Use a file transfer service such as Wetransfer and paste a link to your files in the 'Submit files and Contact' form available in the top menu, along with other instructions.

Do I need ISRC (and UPC) codes before mastering?

Yes and No.

ISRC and UPC codes are only required before mastering if you wish to create a DDP Image for CD duplication.

Online distribution services such as LANDR will automatically provide you with ISRC / UPC codes if you don't already have any, when uploading your masters / compilations to their platforms.

If you would prefer to purchase your own UPC and ISRCs, visit:

What's your money back policy?

If you aren't fully satisfied with your master(s), we'll refund you 100% within the next 2-10 business days (payment provider dependant).

Note:

We will not refund you after delivering your master(s) for the following reasons:

| Not satisfied with the song (composition)

| Not satisfied with elements in the production

| Not satisfied with the final mix

| You haven't requested any revisions

| Delivery time later than estimated delivery. Some wiggle room is allowed. If you're on the tightest deadline, please mention it when submitting your project.
